Civic Amenity Sites

There are three Civic Amenity sites in Blaenau Gwent – Bournville in Blaina, New Vale in Ebbw Vale and Silent Valley in Cwm – These sites are open all year, except Christmas and New Years day, and they will take a wide range of materials.

Materials collected

Green waste, glass, cans, textiles, paper/cardboard, oil, scrap metal, car batteries, old electrical equipment (WEEE), wood and inert waste (stone and rubble)

Bring Sites

Across the borough there are 6 bring sites that collect paper, glass, cans, textiles and Tetra Paks – Juice cartons. (The materials collected at each bring site may vary.)

Cardboard

Tidy Trev and Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council are currently conducting a trial, collect cardboard from the kerbside at 9000 properties across the borough. If you are not on the trial please do not put your cardboard out for collection, please use the civic amenity sites if possible. The trail has proved to be popular and there are plans to expand the collection service in the near future.

 

Kitchen & Garden Waste

9000 properties are currently part of the kitchen and garden waste scheme. Residents are supplied with a 5 litre kitchen caddy for internal use, a 25 litre bin for external use and biodegradable sacks for garden waste.

The Council are hoping to expand the food waste service out across the borough by October.
