All the materials that are collected from the kerbside
are sorted and are placed into the correct container on
the lorry. These materials are then bought back to the
Tidy Trev site, on the Waun-Y-Pound Industrial Estate,
where they are then made ready for collection.
All the recycling collected by Tidy Trev is used in new
products and materials, and all the reprocessing takes
place within the UK.
Plastic Bottles
The plastic bottles collected by Tidy Trev are
compressed into large bales of plastic. These are then
collected and are taken away to be reprocessed into new
plastic items. The process can take several different
forms but they all involve the bottles being washed,
shredded or granulated, melted and then remoulded.
Mixed
Glass
We send the glass that we have collected to a company in
Swansea who crush it into artificial sand. This then has
a variety of uses in the building industry.
Newspaper
& Magazines
All the paper that we collected is sold to a company in
Rhymney who use it to create a range of insulation
materials. The paper that they receive is first
shredded and then treated to form this new material.
Food
& Drinks Cans
Tidy Trev first sorts the cans, using a can machine,
into those made of steel and those made from aluminium.
Once sorted they are then crushed and collected so they can be reprocessed. The
reprocessed metal can find its way into a variety of new
metal items.
Mixed
Textiles & Clothing
The textiles that we collect will be taken away and
graded. Those of a high enough quality will be reused,
those that are not will be used for rag or as an
insulation material.
